How Many Hoarders does it Take to Change a Light Bulb?

In the kitchen a light bulb wasn't working. I stood up on the counter to get to the socket. My father brought me a fresh bulb, which I screwed in. It didn't work either.
"Ok take it out and put this one back." My father said.
"Why? Neither one works. Obviously the socket is broken."
"Would you just do what's logical please," he demanded.
"Logical? Logical?! Do you know anything about logical?" I was becoming exasperated. My foot slipped on the counter pushing a small hill of papers down onto the floor. "Neither bulb works? What is logical about putting back the first bulb?"
"That's what I said, take them both out."
